Okay so I've got my Macbook set up with my external display right now. It doesn't look the best because of the lack of a widescreen external display, but I'm not seeing any performance problems, so I'm happy.

Right now I've got my MacBook up and I'm typing this on the keyboard. If I close the lid of my MB, the screen goes on sleep (both of them). How can I make it so I can basically use this MB as a desktop machine (not having it open)?

Thanks

Also, I've got another problem. My VGA-VGA adapter is very loose. I can't get the screws in far enough to catch and make it tighter. What can I do?

Close the lid, then plug in the display.

Or, use InsomniaX to prevent your Mac from sleeping with the lid closed. I use this, and use a hot key to turn InsomniaX on and off.
