Hey everyone. I have been lurking for awhile not so patiently waiting for the new iMac release. I have a 24" 2008 iMac that was running Leopard and since Diablo won't run on it I got the brilliant idea to update to Snow Leopard in the meantime. Well it turned out to be a huge mistake b/c it errored during the install and would not boot up (white screen only) or recognize my original leopard disc. I erased the drive, tried installing Snow Leopard again and it failed. I tried 3 more times and it finally worked.

Now I am trying to get all my stuff back onto my computer (pictures, music, etc) using a Time Machine backup on a usb 2.0 external hard drive. Originally I left it overnight trying to transfer about 240GB and it froze so I force quit. Tried again only selecting about 120GB. It has been over 12 hours and the bar has moved not even an inch. There is no estimated time listed. My free space has changed about 50GB.

So my question is... Is this normal? Is there anyway to speed it up? The pictures on my backup are really important and I am worried that something is going to get corrupted. I wasn't anticipating on having to do this so I only have the one backup drive.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!
