i recently install a big new hard drive to keep all my media in after maxing out my boot 30gb.

my question is how do i move my movie/picture/document etc folders (you know, the one osx gives you) to the new hard drive. i tried to move it with drag and drop but that just copied everything so now i have doubles....

If you have double-ups, can't you just delete the originals? :)

By the way, do you use iTunes and iPhoto? Both of these apps require you to move their associated media from within the app rather than via Finder (drag and drop folders). In iTunes, this is done by selecting a different folder for the Music Library in the Advanced pane of Preferences. In iPhoto, you can move the iPhoto library via Finder but will be asked to find it on your external drive the next time you open iPhoto. Did that make any sense?

To move files in Finder to another drive rather than copying them, hold down the Apple key while dragging and dropping.
