In the Singapore education store you can get a base model MBP for S$3106, which quite frankly is a rip-off. You'd be better buying one off ebay shipped from Hong Kong. The price is about S$2529.
And I don't know where you saw that deal, but considering the price of it without CS3 or AppleCare I'd imagine that is a very good deal.

It's offered by NUS, friend studies there so I can get the deal since you can purchase 1 a year. But $2500 sounds good, which eBay did you see it at? Haven't seen that kinda price yet, and I found Applecare for $250Sing as well + I have Adobe CS3 (pirated ver) so the $2500 sounds good as well
