So I just finished the transfer of my 11 to my 12 Pro and everything feels a little zoomed in?

Almost as if my phone is set to 12 Mini resolution or something?

It isn’t font size or screen zoom - straight from the transfer it looked exactly like thi

They are using a different ratio on the 12. I find it strange because I don't see anyone wanting to see less content at a glanceZ

It's two parts, fewer points on screen compared to the 11, also for poorly designed apps it's showing blown up versions of the prior 11 Pro size.

I'm noticing the opposite with some apps because I turned on Display Zoom on my 12P. They are squared off as if meant to be viewed on an iPhone 6/7/8/SE. But if I turn off the Display Zoom they'll appear the correct way.

Gotcha.

WhatsApp in particular looks quite blown up. iMessage on the other hand not so much.
I’m getting used to it now, was just a shock at first.

I’m guessing that for some reason Apple decided to scale down the Max phones to the XR and 11?

Yeah the XR and 11 had more points on screen and had layouts more similar to the Max phones. So with those they took Max size and scaled down, but with the 12/12 Pro they took 11 Pro size and scaled up. So compared to an 11 or XR, things will look bigger automatically, but then if the app hasn't been updated to support the new size, it'll look even bigger since it's a scaled up 11 Pro version. It's kinda complicated but basically on the new 12 Pros everything will look bigger than it looked on the 11.

What does it mean "more points on the screen"?

Isn't the iPhone 11 supposed to have less pixels? Wouldn't it make more sense to display smaller text on a higher quality screen like the iPhone 12 because it would be easier to read in higher resolution?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm just confused 😅
