You could try shutting down and restarting with the C key held down, but if it won't even take the CD, I'm not sure how to help on this one. You may need to use a backup drive to re-install just the CD drivers from your OS disk. There's a great shareware app called Pacifist that let's you extract and install just the program you need.

Nov 27, 2005 #4 If the drive has failed mechanically, system profiler would still detect it.... if it has failed electrically, then it would appear to be missing to the system profiler. Does the drive make any sounds or lights at all ? Perhaps the power connector to the drive has come loose......any rough/tough situations lately, like slamming, bumping or dropping ?
