Ok... this has all been happening in the past 20 minutes... and I'm pissed and about to make a run to the genius bar... but lets see what you guys think.

Problem: iPhone (8GB) wont stay connected to iTunes, therefore cannot sync.

Troubleshooting steps taken:
-restarted iTunes
-rebooted iPhone
-used iPhone dock
-used iPhone cable (known good - can sync my iPod with it just fine)
-used iPod cable (also known good, syncs iPod fine)

Now, my iTunes says I need to erase my iPhone to sync it with this Mac (only Mac ever sync'd it to).

Current status: iPhone has no music or video (iTunes purchased TV episodes) on it, just address book, safari bookmarks, etc. basics.

Any suggestions before I take it back to the Apple store. Love the iPhone... but feel like throwing it out the bloody window right now...

EDIT: iPhone is not jailbroken or hacked in any way.
