Hi, I'm replacing the display housing on my late 2008 Macbook Pro and stripped the screw on the iSight mount and ended up doing this. For someone who isn't tech savvy, the part that broke off doesn't LOOK important, but I know that's not always the case. So will this effect anything or am I going to have to buy a new iSight? Thanks in advance!

It's bad news friend, that's one ruined iSight. I'm not exactly savvy on the iSight, but from what I can see, you've snapped a grounding point in the circuit (The metal ring where the screw goes through) and thus, probably won't work now!

Good news is that a new isight only runs for about $30 on iFixit, and since you have your isight sitting out on the table already, I'm assuming reassembly shouldn't be terribly bad for you either.

Thanks, my friends. Not terrible news, as you guys pointed out since it's not pricey and I do already have everything disassembled. Thanks again.

Solved.
