HELP!! Need Optical Audio Out on MBP 15in

Need Optical Cable (TRS) Audio Out on MBP 15in

This for use to plug up to a sound system.
I dont know why they removed this jack as it was previously on 2015 models.

Does anyone know a good adapter that can be used for a 3.5mm and produce the same sound, or am I screwed.

Unfortunately the dac makers are not up to speed and this is the only one currently available, you can of course use any USB dac and an adapter.

The removed the optical output? Why?? I've been using it for a decade now, that's such a nice feature, my 2011 MBP still has it....

Is it true that the 2016's -don't have- optical output?

If so, there's no way to "convert" an analog-only 3.5mm headphone output to digital.
Can't be done.

The only alternative is to "go through the USB port" with an adapter/converter.

yes the 16s dont have optical output, only usb C ports and one 3.5 mm jack

thats why I'm definitely tryna figure out how to output from here to my TOSLINK female slot
