I installed Piclens a couple of days ago and today I had hard crashes
with Safari. I had to force a reboot 3 times. I threw Safari in the
trash thinking I could download a fresh copy from Apple.

Apparently not.

I'm in a hotel far from home and my source CD. Does anyone
have ideas on how/where I can download a fresh copy of Safari?

(Mac OS X 10.4.11)

Thanks,
Mike

Problem Solved! (I hope)

I went to Apple and downloaded the entire 4.10.11 update
file (about 70MB). I thought I would be able to reinstall
Safari only, but my only choice was to install the whole
package. Anyway, Safari is back and I trust that every
thing else is OK. Seems to be... Time will tell.

you could of used Pacifist to open the 10.4.11 update and searched for "Safari.app" and re-installed it.

of course the whole of Safari isnt just in that little app it has frameworks in the System folder which you didnt touch. the update would have just wrote over the frameworks.
