iPod touch Help neede with the ipod touch 3rd generation

My Ipod doesn't work! It won't turn on AT ALL! The screen is just black like it's off but it won't turn on! I hold the power button and it just stays black. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Of course try charging it or plugging it into iTunes. While it is plugged into iTunes u can put it into recovery or dfu mode, by: holding power/home buttons for 15 secs, then let to of power, and hold home for 10 secs

Thank you! Itried charging it and it didn't work so i plugged into itunes and and did what you said and it worked! such a relief.
