i recently bought a unibody macbook pro 13" 2.53GHz C2D, 4 GB RAM running leopard 10.5.8 with all latest updates except iTunes and Quick Time
I have installed Boot Camp 2.1 with Windows XP Professional SP2, upgraded to SP3
I have also used this parition with parallel Desktop 4.0
Now, everything worked fine, boot camp and parallel for a month...
Yesterday I tried to boot into boot camp and problem arises..
Holding Option @ start up-->booted up with the XP partition, saw the windows start up screen, then the monitor went pitch black.
So i forced restarted the computer and tried again, again and again, didn't work
However, I can use parallel to access that drive no problem! I can also use Boot camp-->F8--> Safe mode no problem.
But yet when i restart and run windows normally through boot camp it will still freeze on that black screen
Now. I've decided to take out the whole partition and start a fresh install on XP
It worked for approximately 6hrs while i install a bunch of softwares back into XP
and then all of a sudden the screen turns black again, this time I've also noticed the back-lit keyboard lit up
So I thought something crashed and restarted...same problem, black screen of death.
This time, however, there is a little difference:
1. I haven't configured parallels yet(so it shouldn't be parallel's driver screwing up)
2. Before, the black screen of death appears after the XP start up screen and before the logon screen. Now the BSOD appears after I logged on to windows for abt 1 min(when the startup apps like antivirus is still loading)
So does anyone know what the problem would be or how to fix it?
I've tried some googling and did not get much help. Most of them refers to the iMac issue back in 06/07 >_<
I've also tried resetting PRAM and SMC, those didn't help..
Schooled just started and i need my macbook to run XP due to academic reasons, any help would be much appreciated.
P.S. I also wanted to add that my top left corner of the keyboard gets REALY hot while it's stuck in BSOD and despite all the trouble with boot camp my Mac side is running perfectly fine
