My late 2014 iMac 27” Retina had a recent misfortune which motivated me to order a new 3.8ghz 8-core to replace it. The display still works and the the old iMac is still proficient for all but the most complex tasks. I plan on keeping the old gal but would like to make her look pretty again 😁
I’m aware epoxy stops cracks from spreading further out, but is there a solution that makes it less of an eye sore?

Why not just replace the screen ? or have I not understood something .

Difficulties you have to overcome:
1. Availability: The protection glass for this iMac is not sold separately, it's only available in set.
2. Design: It's tightly glued to the LCD panel, removing it from the LCD panel is a PITA.

Possible solution:
A) Remove the glass and keep the bare LCD panel. But the glass also act as a seal and help hold the LCD panel attached to the aluminum frame.

B) Replace it with the removable glass of iMac 2009~2011
- Gluing them together may be not easy as it seem
- Some part of the 2009~2011's glass may not fit to the frame of 2014 model.

My suggestion of a temporary solution:
- Use a glass cutter to cut-out exactly the inner part (transparent area) of the glass.
- Use black tape to hold the frame and cover/hide the crack.

Or just leave it at it is, and save yourself from all possible troubles/mess-ups. The crack is ugly and disturbing your view/feeling, but attempt to fix it may lead to much costlier consequence.

Nobody tried using one of the following?
- Very liquid UV curing resin.
- Resin like the ones used in repairing windshields. (These are usually bicomponent.)
