Essentially, I have a terrible work ethic.

And by terrible I mean I get to the stage where I'd rather wake up at 5am to do an essay than crack it out in reasonable time.

Recently I downloaded a wee anti-procrastination app named FlexTime; it essentially times a certain activity, then performs a certain action once time is up. Interestingly enough, there's an applescript action; the problem is, I'm no programmer; I can't tell my java from my morning coffee (HA! ... please don't stop reading here).

So:

Without any semblance of arrogance, could I ask the applescript Gods to knock me up a script that hides everything (windows preferably, the dock if possible) EXCEPT OpenOffice (or whatever word processor is more convenient), and one that makes them all visible again?

This would help me (and my college course) a bundle.

I will, of course, repay you with internets.

Cheers!

Well under the application menu there's a "Hide others" option which will hide other windows for you. For the Dock it can be set to auto-hide. That would seem to cover most of what you need without the need of a script.
