I just bought a 1TB My Book HD for backing up my video clips.
It was formatted as FAT which doesn't let me putting my rather large video files onto it. (5-15GB) I tried to reformatted the drive using Disk Utility to Mac OS Extended Journaled, but it always fails.

What do I do now?

Thanks so much for any input or tips

What does it say when it fails? You may have to select the drive (not the partition below it) and select the partition tab. Then select 1 partition from the menu (will say "Current partition") and then select advanced at the bottom to format it as GUID.
