help needed with 3gs

Hello all. I found this site because I need help with my iphone. It was working fine and when I took it out of my pocket it said "activation required". I've been messing with it since then and no luck. Now all I get is the itunes icon with the cable.

The phone is a 3gs running ios5. It just sits at the itunes icon screen. I've had no luck recovering it with itunes. It ends up with "unknown error 1".

If you have any ideas please let me know. Could I jailbreak it from a bricked state? I need step by step instructions as i'm not very familiar with this. Anything will help.

Do you have an Apple store near you? Try there. I've found that they are very helpful.

Put your phone into DFU mode and restore it with Itunes. It will restore your phone to 5.0.1.
