Help needed with iMovie 09

I have around 200gb of video that I have imported from my camcorder which is on my iMac's drive. I'd like to move this video to my external drive as the iMac is running out of space.

What is the recommended way of doing this, so that I'll be able to open my existing project and events in iMovie and continue editing it?

Go to the project library with your external HD plugged in. You should see the HD in the project library. Hold cmd and drag the project to your external HD.

EDIT: Make sure you choose "Move project and events."
