Setting it up

First download the server.

you should get a folder in your home folder called ventrilo and subfolders and stuff in that

make sure u open port 3784 on your router..etc.

in terminal type cd ventrilo (press enter)

then press cd ventsrv (press enter)

then type ./ventrilo_srv

this will start the server with the settings set in the configuration.ini file. to change them just open that file with your text editor. it is in the ventsrv folder in the ventrilo folder.

reply if u need more help.

Help Needed with Setting up a Ventrilo Server!!

Make sure you are using the outside ip (the one assigned by the ISP).
Depending on your router the port forwarding should look something like this:
Application:ventrilo
Port Start:3784
Port End:3784
Protocol:TCP
IP Address:192.168.1.139 (in your case)

You then need to add the following to the ventrilo.ini file
Port:3784 (it should already be there since you are using the default port)
intf=192.168.1.139

When someone tries to connect they will need to put your outside ip # into the server setup along with the port # and password (if used).
So if your outside ip # is 202.158.468.69 then that is the # needed to connect.

Terminal?

Erm..What is the "Terminal" you guys refer to?I have met a problem when I try to host a server in ventrilo.I done every step, but it still show MSG:Contacting Server.I cant find the solution, any help?

The command line interface that allows you to run non gui type programs. Generally used to execute unix commands.

You can find it in Applications->Utilities

Erm..I dun quite good at computer thingy,i can't find the application you mention about.Btw,I'm using window vista home edition.

Either LyleKite is a troll or is really a PC user.

Either way, if you're on a PC you can't access Apple's Terminal.app.

If you're a PC user trying to run a Ventrilo Server, please consult another forum.
