Hi.... obviously new here, in urgent need for help. I know that the matter I need help with has been posted and reposted over and over by others but I have not been able to find a solution that works, hopefully someone has any other ideas I can try... hoping to find a genius. I really appreciate anyone who can take some time to read the encyclopedia I'm about to write.

Background: I got an iphone 4, it used to run one of the 4.x.x OS... I wanted to upgrade it to 5.1.1 (to be able to install some newer apps)... so I started there... upgrade went just fine. After that was done I got the message that the phone was not activated, so I ran Snowbreeze to activate and create a custome firmware... I restored and that went fine as well. After that I wanted the phone to be unlocked to any carrier, upon some research I realized I was crapped out because it was running the 4.12.01 baseband... so I forked up $20 to have it unlocked via IMEI. I received the confirmation that it was done so all I had to do was restore again and it would be ready. Here's where my problem comes. I CANNOT RESTORE. Initially I started getting a 3194 error, which I understand more or less what it is and that it's quite common. I tried every possible solution and still no go. Today's my third day trying this, and that's been three days going through forums, helps sites, etc etc... so despite the fact that this will seem tiresome because it is an over exhausted topic, I haven't found any solution.

What I've tried: Host file edit (tried deleting the gs.apple lines, tried editing them to different IP, tried deleting the file all together, tried leaving it blank, tried downloading a host file, and other stuff). Tried tinyumbrella (the point to Cydia box was never checked, always grayed out). Tried iReb, tried Redsn0w fix recovery, tried updating itunes, tried downgrading itunes. Tried deleting updater files. Tried to restore in itunes from normal mode, tried recovery mode, tried DFU, tried Pwned DFU. Tried a different computer, tried different usb port, tried removing stuff connected to usb ports, tried different cables, tried disconnecting iphone battery. Pretty sure I have tried other stuff I can't remember also. All I want is to restore! :(

I have at times been presented with other error codes, I've seen error 21, error 11, error 1600, error 1601.

I know the error comes from the fact that it was jailbroken, and that apple is not being able to access the servers to verify the firmware. But I don't know what else to try.

I've been pondering if upgrading to 6.0 will still give me the error??? I haven't tried because I'm afraid to loose the activation and also the IMEI unlock. ANyone know if the phone will loose activation if I try 6.0?? because I won't be able to create a custome firmware with snowbreze if that happens I assume.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP

Thank you!
