Hello! I bought the new MacBook Pro 15” about a month ago. So far it’s worked perfectly, I haven’t had any issues with the keyboard, all seemed good. Until this morning, when, as I was trying to install a program, the system suddenly became VERY laggy. It was a struggle to even close Safari. I restarted it and the progress bar went about half way before it suddenly shut down, and it’s been dead since.

I’ve tried everything: resetting the SMC, the PRAM, holding the power button for 10-15 secs, holding the power button + space bar + trackpad (apparently it worked for someone?).

I’m planing on taking it to the store, but sadly it’s an authorized reseller and I’m worried they might not have the same model in stock. I need it working ASAP as I’m a college student and have a million things due for Monday!

I did notice (before it shut down) that the battery indicator was at 0%, despite it being plugged in. When I clicked on it it said the battery wasn’t charging, and that it was plugged into a power current, so it seems the computer recognized the charger, so I thought it was just a bug. I tried the plugging it to different outlets around my house but still no luck.

Any ideas what could have gone wrong with it? Is there anything else I can try?

You didn't tell us where you are.
Do you have a real "brick n mortar" Apple Store anywhere close?
If so, TAKE IT TO THEM.
