Hi. I just received my macbook on friday and i need to upgrade my hard drive. I was looking to purchase this hard drive but i just wanted to make sure this was a good buy. Will this hard drive fit? Should i upgrade my ram as well? I have the standard 1gb. Im not looking for a 500gb but this price is great! Im content with 320 as well. I just want the best buy.If there is any information that could help purchasea hard drive i would greatly appreciate it. Im new to all this. This is my first laptop! That drive will not fit. Macbooks will only accept 2.5 inch hard drives, while the one you linked too is 3.5 inch. There are very few 500gb laptop hard drives currently available. This http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136314 is one. There are plenty of smaller sizes starting at 320gb around for lower prices.
What are you looking to get from upgrading the hard drive and the RAM? If you want increased performance, upgrade the RAM first (I suggest checking out Crucial.com for RAM upgrades)
Thanks for the quick response! I mainly want a bigger hard drive for media purposes. I tried putting all my music from my 80gig ipod and i ran out of memory. I was so bummed! I didnt think that would possibly but i just want to upgrade to a 320 hard drive. That should hold me over for a good while. As far as performance im okay with 1gb of RAM but would it be necessary to upgrade RAM with the new hard drive or naw? Thanks for the links! I was browsing on newegg and found two more hard drives. I heard the 7200RPM is better than 5400RPM. Is there a big difference? Does one drain the battery life more than the other?
