Help - no hard drive recognized...

Hi all,

Just received brand new macbook pro 15. I booted on stock hard drive to make sure all was fine, it was. Then shut down and installed a WD scorpio blue 500GB. Now installing OSX and on the 'select disc where you want to install', I've just a blank box with no options.

Any ideas? Done something wrong?

ps the drive is recognized in disc utility. I need to format?

Ok I partitioned it and appears to be running smoothly now.
