I'm struggling to understand the exact mechanism between syncing contacts and calendars between Outlook and iCloud and I'd surely appreciate your help. I have installed iCloud for Windows and selected my mail, contacts, Calanders and Tasks to be synced from Outlook 2013 to iCloud.

Outlook creates my iCloud account for contacts, calendars, etc but these sections remain empty. My iPhone and iPad are downloading the contacts from Outlook just fine, however I just wonder if that's logical. Shouldn't Outlook 2013 only sync the items that I have copied under the respective iCloud sections? Don't get me wrong, I really like the fact that I don't have to copy my contacts or my calendar events from my normal Outlook 2013 account to the iCloud account, but since this isn't necessary, I just don't understand why the iCloud account needs to be created within Outlook in the first place. Can somebody explain this please?
