I just washed my hair and I used three different shampoos, one is like 75% peppermint oil, the other two are regular shelve shampoos like herbal essences and creme of nature by Revlon. I got out of the shower only to notice that everything seemed foggy and that washing my eyes out with water only made it worse. My eyes still burn, but the fogginess is going away. My eyes are still somewhat red. Will I be okay? Should I contact poison control or will I be fine. I assume that people on occasion get soap in their eyes, but I never knew I'd see foggy for around 10 minutes.

You should be fine, just keep rinsing your eyes out, I assume it was the peppermint oil that did it. The obvious question is WHY are you washing your hair THREE times? :)

Why were you using 3 shampoos?

I am sure you're fine. I always swim with my eyes open in my (chlorinated) pool. After about 5 minutes of doing that everything gets cloudy out of the water. After 15 to 20 minutes it goes away.

I am just going to throw this out there but its probably because of the PH of the shampoo. I don't think they could sell shampoo if it blinded people. I would recommend to continue to wash your eyes out. If your kitchen sink has one of those retractable faucets flip it upwards to it sprays into your eyes like and eyewash.

That happened to a friend of mine and he lost like 20% of his vision due to chemical reactions from the different shampoo products.

I'd get to a doctor, ASAP.

The fogginesss went away completely. I'm fine now. The water did nothing for me so I tried not using water and using saline, that didn't work either. So I just quit doing anything and I posted here. 5 minutes later the fogginess went away.

Why three shampoos? Welll... I honestly don't know what works for me in terms of shampoos so I have a line up and I use a combination of them. The funny thing is my eyes didn't even burn inside of the shower or really out. It's just when I realized everything was blurry that it started to sting a bit. Now I'm fine. Thanks guys.

The pepermint oil was trapped on your eye by the oils in the creme one, which would make your vision cloudy as well.
That and PH. It will burn for awhile.

You type well for someone with three kinds of shampoo in your eyes.
You'll live. Just get off the computer and sit with your eyes shut for a while. Oh and where's your mom...you should ask her.

flush your eye out a lot and you'll be fine. i once got brake cleaner in my eye and its alright. just took about 20mins of constant flushing to get the burning and pain to go away.

If it doesn't get better pop to the doc hummer. You should be fine though :).

I haven't used shampoo in four months now. Before that I was a shampooer every single day (for as long as I remember) as my hair used to get insanely greasy and feel god-awful. I finally weaned myself off by shaving my head and not using shampoo as it grew back.

Now it gets a thorough, brisk wash with water on a daily basis, and perhaps a wash with sorbolene if I've been landscaping or playing sport. To be honest I've not really needed the sorbolene much at all. My hair is in much better condition than it ever was and my scalp is no longer hyper-excreting oil. You should give it a try - much better for the environment :)!

Washing your hair three times likely equals more damage than protection. In fact, you're only supposed to shampoo every two to three days. Shampooing too often will dry your hair out, unless you have very oily hair.

Take your time to find out what works for you. Then again, it's not a good idea to use one shampoo exclusively. Switch up every couple of months.

yeah and btw, shampoo?

I grab the bar of irish spring and wash my whole head, hair and face combined, at once.

Men just use the bar of soap, that soap being Irish Spring.

Perhaps you should get Baby Shampoo. It has a very neutral PH so it doesn't hurt when it gets in your eyes.
