I have about 10 jpg files that in the finder window I can see the whole image, but when I try to open the picture or put it in iphoto i can only see half of the picture. Please help! How can I see the whole photo??? Thanks!

Typically this means that the image is actually corrupt. I had a few like this, the preview worked fine (this was on a PC actually) but then I couldn't open them all the way. I'm not sure if the JPG format allows for a preview or were the preview images created before the corruption and they why they work. I think this is the case, because for me, I was able to recreate the preview images and then they showed the corruption.

I was never able to fix the files (on PC or Mac) : anyone have any idea?

Have you tried other image applications. Perhaps one can open them and you can resave them, hopefully fixing the corruption issue. Gimp is a free tool that's worth a shot.
