HELP Option+e not working.

not sure if this is the first time I've tried to do this and it not worked since installing Lion. when trying to type spanish accents i usually hold option+e and then the vowel i want the accent on. NOT WORKING. Option+everything else works, just not this. Facing deadline, THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP.

You hold down e until the accents popup comes up. Then you hit the corresponding number key to select the correctly accented é.

It works fine for me in Lion.
