Hi everyone,

I am trying to upgrade from 10.8.5 to OSX Mavericks and it comes up with OS X cannot be installed. It says something about the recovery partition and a quick search tells me to delete the partition but that is not an option.

Any help appreciated

First off, make sure you have a full back up of your machine.

Then try to remove the existing partitions, and recreate your Macintosh HD (or what ever you like to call it) and then reinstall.

How are you trying to install Mavericks, via the Mac App Store or a thumb drive?

I am trying to install off the HD. But I can't erase my HD as it has MS Office which I can't afford to lose again.
