Help picking a new laptop for college

Hi thanks in advance if you read or reply i appreciate it
so i need a new laptop for college (im in the uk) and have around £500 gdp but i can stretch that a little. I need something that fits the following and i can get within a week.
-(Important) quite small and light but big enough screen to be workable (im thinking 13.3 or 14")note i don't want a 15.6"
- reasonable amount of power but nothing special dual core 2gb+ ram 250g+ hd obviously the bigger the better but that's all i need and budgets quite important.
- keyboard nice to type on and in budget

I am not 100% on the conversion rate, but I don't think you'll be able to get a mac for that price.

Maybe if you didn't mind a smaller hard drive, then the macbook air or 13.3 macbook pro might work for you.

Actually looking at the UK site I think you're out of luck unless their education discount is amazing.

Best bet at that price is to look at some older macbooks for sale; thing is you'll still get everything on your list, and unless you are doing some bigtime media editing or gaming (at which point I would honestly look into windows at that price point), it will certainly suffice.

I have this laptop and it's a dream. Mine's configured with an i5, 6630m GPU, and a backlit keyboard, in bronze. I got in mid-summer and so far it's served me very well without any problems, I would highly recommend it.

oh thanks thejadedmonkey i will consider that but i have a bit of a downer on dells but im cool with all the other brands lenovo,hp,toshiba ect

oh darn the UK... if you were in the US or if you have relatives in the US you could have gotten an HP laptop with student discounts as well as a coupon and probably save a couple GBP [with the conversion rate]

ill keep my eyes open though for any deals

IMO, you're better off looking for a used MBP or MBA.

Good choice, it's basically a 13" macbook pro without the OS Lion and the case etc.

Let us know if you are happy with it once you have used it for a few days.
