Hi guys,

Basically I used my macbook air (2013) this morning before work for the simple things, emails, the news etc, and it was absolutely fine. I left it all day, (sleep mode) until I got home 9 hours later and now the fan is suddenly going mental. It runs really fast and it is making a lot of noise, neither of which I have ever noticed before. After resetting it to see if that fixed the issue, the macbook air would not actually turn back on for about 40 minutes. No lights no sounds, nothing. Now it is just incredibly slow, even though there is spare memory and it takes ages to load anything at all. The fan is also still running like mad.

What should I do? What can I try before I go to the genius bar? I am not tech savy so please explain any answers in as much detail as is possible. Thank you guys.

Spec

4 GB ram

1.3 Intel Core

11" Model

Might be worth running the disk utility too, repair disk permissions and verify the disk. If you have a full backup reinstall OS X and see if the problem still there.
