Help please, new mac user.

Hey guys I just got my new Macbook pro. I noticed that the Mac HD icon is not on the desktop or whatever it's called on a mac. I then attempted to drag it from Finder and it did the poof thing and it disappeared. Anyone know what to do to get them back?

in Snow Leopard the hard drive isnt on the desktop by default anymore. to add the hard drive to your desktop and back to your sidebar check out Finder's preferences.

Ok, now that I have it on my desktop.. Why is it so small? Anyway to increase the size of it?

Right click on the Desktop and select "Show View Options." You can change the icon size using the slider.

Also, it disappeared from the sidebar because it behaves similarly to the Dock in some was. If you drag something off of the sidebar, you’re removing it from the sidebar, not adding it somewhere else. You can add it back in Finder > Preferences > Sidebar
