help please (switching keys)

You can physically switch out the keys, but they correspond to the mapping of functions from the version of OS X that was pre-installed with the computer when it was new. (His being the newer format) What I'm saying, is that the keys don't define their function, the software mapping of the keyboard does, and simply changing the keys won't change their function within the software.
Edit: Plus, aren't his keys black and yours are white? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yeah, you can swap the keys. Just be careful you don't break them in the process.

Funny you say that. I originally had "straight gangsta' " as the caption, but wanted to keep it a little more "serious"
