i have a White Macbook Core 2 Duo 2.16 and my friend has a Black macbook Core 2 Duo 2.0 so the top row of keys are different.. can we switch out the keys, if so, how?

You can physically switch out the keys, but they correspond to the mapping of functions from the version of OS X that was pre-installed with the computer when it was new. (His being the newer format) What I'm saying, is that the keys don't define their function, the software mapping of the keyboard does, and simply changing the keys won't change their function within the software.

Edit: Plus, aren't his keys black and yours are white? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Edit2: Dude, you put this in another thread as well...https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=7158234#post7158234

Yeah, you can swap the keys. Just be careful you don't break them in the process.

This thread is awesome on so many levels.
I count four right now.

Edit: make that five (due to NewMacbookPlz's edit)

Sweet. That's straight up gangster.
When you get sick of that look you can change it to a checkered pattern and play chess on it.

Funny you say that. I originally had "straight gangsta' " as the caption, but wanted to keep it a little more "serious" :D:D

Just looking at this gives me a headache though
