Your system.log (open Console to find it) can help diagnose the problems. Look for messages around the time of the crash. Perhaps post them here.
Posting information about your hardware and OS will help diagnose the problem, too.
You will get a "npvhash" line in the system log just after the computer powers on and starts to boot up.
