I just did a really stupid thing. I had a Yahoo.ca POP account set up in Mac Mail. I just switched to IMAP and deleted the account beforehand, not realizing that most of the mail (everything prior to Sept 28) had been taken off Yahoo's servers. :(

Now did deleting the account from Mac Mail still keep my mail somewhere on my hard drive? And if so where can I access it?

Thank goodness Gmail is my primary, but ugh. I can't believe I did that.

Do you have a backup? If not, you might try software like Data Rescue 3 (if it's important enough to you). If you're going to try that, though, STOP USING THE HARD DRIVE NOW. That's critical to being able to recover deleted files.

Your POP messages are downloaded to the folders "On My Computer". Deleting the account should not have deleted the messages.
