Hello,
I'm having some issue troubleshooting a printing issue and I hope someone that has encountered and fixed the same issue might be able to help.
I have a MacBook with latest High Sierra and an HP Officejet 4658 multi-function printer connecting using my home router (BT smart hub 6).
I installed the printer following HP instructions (I believe the printer is using Airprint) and both the print and the scanner function initially work without a problem.
The issue is, after a while (few hours or few days), the print function stops working: the MacBook hangs on the "looking for printer" step and/or I get a "failed connecting to printer" error. At the same time, when this is happening, the printer is still connected to the wifi network, other devices can print. Also from the same MacBook that fails printing I'm able to use the scanner function.
Everything seems to point to something stuck with the MacOS printing systems, however:
- I was not able to find a sequence of steps on the MacBook that would solve the problem and allow printing... even after rebooting the MacBook the printing problem persists
- the only action that systematically seems to fix the problem is to reboot the wifi router alone
Has anyone come across a similar issue or has anyone some direction how to troubleshoot the issue?
Thank you in advance.
