I had my iphone 4 with 4.0.1 JB with limera1n. I used Tiny Umbrela to save my blobs SHSH and then went to itunes to update. It got half way through and gave me this error: The iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1013). I have tried putting phone in DFU mode and no luck! Now my phone just sits here with the usb cable and itunes logo! Please help me.

This isnt my solution:
I was stuck on the error code 1013 for hours until I finally found the culprit. I was blocking gs.apple.com in my host file. I'm not sure why I'm blocking it in the first place, but I commented it out, and it restored fine after.
For those of you who don't know how to do this, open up Terminal, type

sudo pico /etc/hosts

It will then ask for you password. Next find gs.apple.com and put a # in front of it so it reads #gs.apple.com

Next hit control x Type Y Click Enter

open tinyumbrella with the iphone plugged in, go to the advanced tab and uncheck the box that says "set hosts to cydia on exit" hit apply changes in the bottom right. Close tinyumbrella and restore through itunes.

you're welcome

did you have TU running while updating?
