I have a 3rd Gen iPod and just got a new computer. Obviously, I need to re-authorize my Ipod with the computer so I can continue using it. I plugged it in, and in addition to wiping all of my music (my own mistake), I found that iTunes doesn't even recognize the Ipod, and therefore I cannot add any music. There has to be a simple solution to this... I didn't even try anything illegal.

Since you've already wiped all the music off it, a full restore shouldn't do any harm. Download the latest iPod Updater: 2005-10-12, (unless you already have it in /Applications/Utilities) and run that with the iPod attached.

If it doesn't show up in iTunes after that (and the usual mumbo jumbo, like repairing permissions) it might be something serious...
