I was in the middle of working on a paper for class. I was using another papers format as an example. When I went to press save as, I accidentally pressed save. So it wrote over the previous paper I had. Is there any way to recover the original doc? I looked in the Office 2011 recovery file, but it only recovered the paper I was just working on. Suggestions?

Oh and both papers are due tonight. FML

Pages allows the user to to "revert to saved" and browse previous saved versions. I don't think office has this function in OSX Lion, but i don't know because i have the old version of Office (I use iWork instead).

Might be worth a try to see if you can find this setting, if it exists, in Office. In Pages, you click the name of the document at the top of the window and it brings up a menu (pic posted). And you can browse previous versions by the date/time it was edited (I also use Time Machine, so I don't know if you need this or not. I don't believe you do).

Good luck, and lesson learned... always back up. :(

no dice. It doesn't have that option.

If it is still open, you could Undo your way back ...
For future reference, Edit/Undo can undo only those changes made since the last File/Save. Once you save changes, then they can be reverse changes only manually or via Time Machine. The OP, not having a Time Machihne backup, is SOL.
