I know the MacBook Pro's RAM is dual channel, which benefits from 2 like modules installed but... Could I purchase 1 4GB DDR3 module, install it, and have 6GB RAM?

Don't have one yet, but I'm thinking that I don't want to cough up $600 for 8GB, but would like more than 4GB.
Also, it's 2x2GB in the new MBPs, so couldn't I just get away with purchasing one 4GB stick, and keep one of the 2GBs?
