Good afternoon all.
I am looking to purchase a new 2018 MBP. I am pretty set on wanting the 32GB RAM, as I will occasionally have a VM up, but also dabble in the video space. This is something that i'd like to do more of after grad school is done. Just a couple of questions here...
1) I am looking heavily at the refub list as they undergo rigorous testing prior to being sold again (by Apple) and they saves a little scratch off the price.
2) I dont play any games on my Mac...at all. I am curious about the 550x and 560x when it comes to iMovie and eventually FCP for video usage. I found a 15 2.6/512/32/560x for around 2700 on the refub site.
What do you guys think about that setup? Do I really need the 2.6 (refurb) or will the 2.2(new) be a better deal with the upgraded options (still uncertain on the graphic upgrade; if needed or not). I'd not mind staying with 13, as I have one now, but doesnt go up for RAM and does not have dedicated graphics, so I think I've ruled that one out.
I do some programming (java, python, c#), data analysis using various tools, and play with additional IBM servers for BlockChain. I've noticed that dockers takes up about 3-4GB of RAM alone, so hence why I chose the higher RAM Upgrade
