Hi,

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help me out here.

1. I had an iphone 4 that I was going to sell – was on 4.0.1
2. My friend wanted it jailbroken and unlocked
3. I went in to www.jailbreakme.com
4. Went in to Cydia and unlocked
5. I immediately figured that I had all my data in there and used the “Erase all content and setting”
6. After it did, the phone will not go in to the springboard. It sits in the apple logo

I cannot do a restore from iTunes obviously since it will put me in 4.1

Any ideas here how I can get back to the booting my iphone 4 and also stay on 4.0.1? did not do any backup in Cydia server etc. The jailbreak, unlock and erase content happened one after the other. Am I out of luck? Is the only way to get back is to restore to 4.1?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Have you had any luck with this? I've got the same problem... Would appreciate any tips

@JollyGuy23

If you have the SHSH saved for 4.0.1, you can restore back. Put your iPhone in DFU mode, download tinyumbrella, run TSS server, then restore via iTunes.

@PsstGreek

And what if you don't know whether your SHSH files were saved or not through Cydia?..

I had JB and Unlock on iphone 4 running iOS 4.0, but after resetting the device (dumb decision as I figured by now!), it's stuck in permanent recovery mode with Apple logo on the screen...

Tinyumbrella recognizes the phone as "recovery device", but TSS server button is gray and cannot be selected. The question is how can I upgrade to 4.1 and preserve the baseband 1.59.00? Or get it out of recovery?.. Neither RecBoot nor tinyumbrella can get it out of trance state... :confused:

Saving them has to be done manually. Either by clicking "Make My Life Easier" in Cydia or clicking "Save SHSH" in Tinyumbrella.

Did you hit "erase all settings"? <--Big no-no. You can edit your host files to that of the Cydia server and restore your iPhone back to 4.0

Now you're pretty much doomed if TinyUmbrella or iRecboot can get your iPhone out of recovery. Your only option now if you don't have the shsh files saved for any 4.x.x is to restore to 4.2.1

Yes, it was "erase all settings" thing... (
RecBoot doesn't help. How can I edit the host files (I don't even know if SHSH were saved before erase)? What's the procedure? Thanks

If you're on a Mac: Right click on finder - go to folder > /etc >hosts.

If you're on a PC: Run notepad > open > windows > system32 > drivers > etc > hosts.

The host file should like this (mac/windows).

When you're restoring and you get an error message 3394 (I think) then you don't have the SHSH files saved for the iOS.
