Problem: My MBP Pro died. Urgently need to get Address Book from a recent Time Machine Backup (yes, should have exported it or save it to iCloud, but I didn't).

Girlfriend loaned me her MBA running Sierra. I think mine was running at least El Capitan.

I can see my "Address Book" application in Time Machine, or just through a recent full backup. But when I double click it on her machine, I get the message You Can't Use This Version of the Application "Address Book" with this version of macOS. You have version 6.13.

I guess the version running on my MBP was older.

How can I bridge this divide?

Thanks,

It's not really the Address Book app you're wanting is it? I believe you want your contacts back? I don't know how many contacts you had listed but you might try just restoring the contacts. The only problem with that is if you're successful, you'll add all your contacts to that of your friend's. Also, I'm not if that will even work as I have never tried it.

Thanks chscag. Yes, but I cannot find any "Contacts" files in my backups, even in my direct full disk copy.

I think what I'm going to do is put the SSD from my dead MBP in an enclosure, boot my GF's MBA from it, harvest what I need and email it to myself.
