So i was looking in the FINDER under the SEARCH FOR in the PAST WEEK section. There were like 500 items in that particular section. Somehow I accidently selected all of them and dragged them to my desktop. I moved them all into the trash to clear my desktop but when I tried to open programs they said they could not be opened because they were in the trash. All the programs had been moved from their original folders to the desktop and there are far too many of them to go back and place them individually. I hope this makes sense and is there any way to undo this mess to put everything back where it came from?

If you haven't done anything else yet in Finder, go to the Edit menu in Finder and see if it allows you to Undo what you just did.
