Help Running Jar Files

Whenever I try to run a .jar file on my Mac (OS 10.6.6), my computer stalls for a few seconds, then I get a popup message that says "The Java JAR file "xxx.jar" could not be launched" Then underneath that it says, "Check the Console for possible error messages." When I run the file in Eclipse to debug it, it runs fine, but when I export it and try to run it, I get the error message. The Java software on my computer is up to date. Has anybody had this problem or know how to fix it?
