Ok, So my Unibody Macbook Pro keeps randomly dimming from the brightest setting to the second brightest setting on the screen while In use!!!!

Is this an energy saving thing? I think its a bit silly, it happens when I am typing, Just happened then, then I have to push to up brightness button to put it back!

Is my unit faulty or is it supposed to be doing that?
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the ambient light sensor on? It might be sensing a shadow or something and adjusting the screen brightness for you.

You are a genius, must be connected to why the keyboard lights don't come on any more 'faulty light sensor' Ill get it put in for a repair.

Many thanks!

However, it may be just the normal pre-emptive screen dim which happens about half way before a full screen off occurs, as set up in energy save.

Try switching off display energy save in prefs.

Also, try this ...

Energy Saver > Options > Other Options > Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep, disable.

This is a get around ...
