New to all this. Just bought an iPad Mini 7 without cellular. I have no other Apple devices. I'd like to learn to use FaceTime. How do I go about setting it up ? I think I got through the first few steps as I signed in with my Apple ID (email). So it seems ready to go (?). As I mentioned I don't have cellular so I'll have to use WIFI/email if that is possible/correct. Where do I go from here ? How do I FaceTime someone, and how do they FT me ?

It has to be any apple device phone, tablet or Mac. If it is the iPhone use their phone number. For device with out cellular use appleID/email. It is possible to FaceTime an android. I tried it once it does work do a google search for more info.

Thanks guys. Alright so I would have to know what their Apple ID/email was. Not just any email but an Apple ID email, or their Apple phone number right ? OK, now on FT there are two buttons, one says 'Create Link' the other 'New Face Time'. How exactly do these work and which do you use ? Also the 'Create Link' button has a bubble that says 'friends with Android and Windows can join if you share a link. How would this work ?

If someone wants to contact me, how do I go about that and what do they need ?

And also, there is an iCloud email address, where does that come into play ? It's XXX@icloud.com

If you click on 'New FaceTime", you can pick a recipient from your Contacts list.

Apple Support has an article that explains the 'Create Link' function here.

Only users with iMessage and FaceTime accounts can contact you. You need to give them the XXX@icloud.com email for that.

Frankly, communication with Android users is easier if you also have an iPhone with phone number linked to iMessage. That way, you can get SMS/MMS/RCS/call forwarding to the iPad.

Otherwise, if you’re in the US and can get a Google Voice number, that’s probably your best bet for calling/texting Android users from the iPad.

I thought to use FT I had to use my Apple ID/email which is different from my XXX@icloud.com email. Is this not correct ?
Your appleid can be any email you use to set it up. If happens to be your apple email(iCloud)so be it You can have an apple id say with gmail and have an apple email(icon). If you go to the FaceTime app in settings you can set the email you want to use for FaceTime
