I've been working on my Time Capsule setup all day and almost have it exactly how I want it. I'm using the Time Capsule to manage my 802.11n connections (Macbook and Macbook Pro), Time Machine, and network storage. Not only do I want to be able to access the Time Capsule network drive while at home but I also want to be able to access it while at work, school, or just away from home.

For informational purposes I have a cable modem which is plugged in to my Linksys WRT54G wireless router which is used as the gateway and then the Time Capsule is plugged into a LAN port of the Linksys wireless router and the Time Capsule is running bridged mode. I use the Linksys wireless router for my 802.11g devices (i.e. Xbox 360) and the Time Capsule for my 802.11n devices. It is all one network so if I connect to the Linksys router I still have the ability to access the Time Capsule. I have static IP addresses for both routers and all computers (the Linksys gateway address is still dynamic) and have setup a DMZ for the Time Capsule's static IP.

I've setup a DNS server for my network and have been successful in accessing the Time Capsule disk while away from home (I use my Verizon Blackberry 8830 as a modem) while in Mac OS X by using afp://<insertdnsdomainnamehere>. I then just supply my account name and password and a screen popups asking which drives I want to mount. I'm then able to read and write to the volume.

In Vista I'm not having the same results. I have setup Time Capsule via AirPort Utility to advertise disks globally using Bonjour but can only see the disks when I'm on the home network. I have been able to connect to the Time Capsule in Vista when away from home by running AirPort Utility and supplying my DNS and password for the Time Capsule. I can then configure AirPort so I know this isn't just a Vista issue. I've tried going to My Computer and adding a network drive with \\<insertdnsdomainnamehere>\<nameofdisk> which works when on the home network but doesn't work when away from home. I just don't understand how to access the drive in Vista when not on the home network.

If anyone has any experience accessing Mac NAS drives via Vista over the internet then please let me know what I can do to solve this issue. Thanks so much.
