can someone tell me a way to get into single user mode other then command s ive tried and it just doesnt work

Sorry, but command - s is how you do it. You have to hold it till you see a black screen and white text appear. I am not aware of any other method.
(my guess is you are not holding the command long enough)

ive tried holding it before i turn it off and keep it held ti it load
tried holding command during start up and tapping s

Have you by any chance set up a firmware password? It would block booting into Single User mode among others.
