we have a 16gb ipad mini and forever and a day i would be able to delete apps from the ipad and then reinstall the apps and in-app purchases at a later time do to space restrictions [bonus level type in-apps] on both my ipads on the same user id. it would even bring up a box saying you have already downloaded this b4 click here to dl for free. did that change?????

now all of a sudden i am getting charged for the in-app purchases 2.99, 3.99 etc... when i bought them already.

1- are in-app purchases now device specific? or can they be shared on the same account with different devices?

2- is there a way to back up an in-app purchase to my macbook air? then resinstall them that way?

thanks

I honestly couldn't tell you. The only in app purchases I have done is navigon extra maps etc. but there is a restore previous purchases within the app. Does your app not have this feature??

it depends on the app, but most in app purchases are device specific.

thanks for the info. when did this change?

so if i buy an inapp and delete the app how do i know if i am going to get charged again?

thanks

You won't be charged twice for the same exact purchase through the App Store. Ever. This includes in-app purchases. The previous poster saying that in-app purchases are device-specific is very confusing. If the app is universal, there is no distinction between an iPhone/iPod touch in-app purchase versus iPad in-app purchase unless otherwise noted by the developer. If the app is iPhone/iPod only with a separate iPad-only "HD" app, then the in-app purchase is device-specific. Think of it as app-specific since in-app purchases follow the app, not the device it's installed on. If you have an iPhone app with in-app purchases and a separate iPad-only app with in-app purchases, then your in-app purchases between the two devices are different and you will be charged twice.

i am still so confused. apple said this... "in-apps from this developer are non-transferable. So if you want an in-app that you have previously purchased on another device, you need to buy it again."

WHAT? How would i know that for sure???? again i thought its the apple id that dictates? meaning same app/or inapp from the same version on same type of device.

????

Device specific meaning only on the device for which you purchased. Not specific to the type of device. Really? LOL. And this is directed at the previous poster, not the OP.

Regarding which apps allow transfers of in app purchases, contact the developer. But in my experience, 99% of the time, they so not transfer. Shoot most games don't even sync progress over multiple devices.

thanks for the explanation. this had to have changed recently since i have always had two ipads and we constantly delete apps and then redownload everything between both and didnt run into this problem apps/in-apss it didnt matter where we would get charged again.

frankly the entire way the invoicing works is bothersome. i dont find it easy to navigate. its kind of sad i can search my gmail for what i bought quicker then itunes.

thanks
