HELP - Stripped hard drive screw when replacing MBP hard drive

Hey guys

I am removing the stock hdd from my MBP and the second screw on the black part that holds the drive in just won't loosen. Its so tight to the point that the screw is stripping.....

what can i do here? Am i screwed?

Apply lots of pressure and turn very slowly.

God damn..... I did it. I had to get needle nose pliers and vertically loosen the screw, then applied the recomended pressure to finish.


I now have a 750gig 13" 2010 MBP. Thanks for the help.

For future reference, you need to use a Torx T6 on those screws.

No, the torx screws are chrome. I am talking about the black bracket that secures the drive to the computer. The torx screws support the drive, but the black bracket locks it to the comp.

I've just stripped the retaining bar screw on my unibody MB. I've tried different screwdrivers and the super glue trick. Nothing worked, so I'm going to take it in to Apple tomorrow and see if they'll sort it out for me. I'm about four months out of warranty, but I'm hoping they'll sort it out for free. What a nightmare.
