Help switching from iPod touch to iPhone 4

Here's a question I haven't been able to find the answer to, so any help would be appreciated.

I'm upgrading from an iPod touch to the iPhone 4 next week, and I'm wondering if I'll need to upgrade to iOS4 on the touch before I backup/restore to iPhone 4. I was hoping I could just leave iOS3.x installed on my touch.

No, the 3.x backup will restore fine on iOS4.

Are you even able to restore from an iPod Touch to an iPhone?? I know I wasn't when I went form a 2nd Gen to a iPhone 3G.

Yep, worked perfectly -- although I did decide to upgrade my touch to iOS4 first just to make sure.
